As the countdown towards the London 2012 Olympics continues the more we see businesses of all disciplines associate themselves with this forthcoming spectacle. The Newcastle Council project Active Newcastle saw this as a genuine opportunity to build a viral campaign in the 500 days leading up to the Olympics. The initiative called Active 500 was created to appeal to individuals who have been inspired by the Olympics and wish to turn their dreams into reality.
Active 500 aims to make the people of Newcastle feel a part of the 2012 Olympics as it returns to the UK for the first time since 1948. As an official Olympic city Newcastle upon Tyne will use the Active 500 campaign to encourage individuals in the 500 days leading up to the Olympics to get involved in one of the 30 Olympic or 21 Paralympic sports.
AYO Media were asked to deliver a microsite to act as a source of information for individuals looking to get involved in these sporting disciplines, view event times, locate venues and eventually feedback into the Active Newcastle website.
Active 500 was designed and developed in association with Change 4 Life, Sport England, Newcastle NHS and Newcastle City Council.
